Can metal roofing panels be installed directly over my old, worn out shingles?
Typically the answer is yes, metal panels weigh only 1/3 as much as shingles. Installation directly over your old roof eliminates the cost and problem of disposing of the old shingles. The best way to do this is to attach 1” x 4” or 2” x 4” firing strips at 24” o/c parallel to the eaves and ridge; we suggest you use a professional for this.
How are metal roofing panels attached?
Our installers will use stainless steel screws that are color matched to your roof. The use of screw fasteners is preferred over nails as they provide superior weather tightness and resistance to pullout. We usually space our fasteners 24” o/c.
Can insulation be installed under the metal roofing panels?
Absolutely! Among the insulation types that can be used is ¾” insulation to provide you with better energy efficiency.
